Monarch caterpillars require milkweed hosts, and it has generally been assumed that large grazers such as cattle and bison will not eat milkweed. However, we have found that large grazers eat milkweeds at approximately the same rate as grasses in Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, and Kansas.
