Merchant’s Pub & Plate to Host Fundraiser for KRC
On Wednesday, August 2, Merchant’s Pub & Plate will host a fundraiser to benefit for the Kansas Rural Center. Merchants will donate a percentage of the day’s sales to KRC, so come enjoy a meal or evening out with family and friends, knowing you will be supporting the Kansas Rural Center.
Since 1979, the Kansas Rural Center has worked to advance a diversified food and farming system that is ecologically sound, economically viable and socially just. KRC helps farmers and citizens join together in growing opportunities for local and regional food. Two of KRC’s program areas are women in farming and pollinator protection. These two programs, which will be highlighted via the fundraising event, include hands-on workshops, farm tours featuring livestock and vegetable production for local markets, high tunnel production to extend the season and protect crops, providing pollinator habitat and implementing farming practices that protect and encourage pollinators.
Dine with us to help grow our local food system.
On August 2, Merchants will prepare a special menu, with locally produced foods raised by women farmers and a special cocktail featuring a sweet pollinator product: local honey.
KRC will receive a share of the day’s sales from opening to closing, to show the restaurant’s support for our work in creating a healthy food and farm system in Kansas.
Merchant’s is located at 746 Massachusetts St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
Thanks!
