KRC Seeks Grassroots Field Coordinator
The Kansas Rural Center is seeking a full-time Field Coordinator for all aspects of its Grassroots Engagement work but primarily for its current Community Food Solutions and Civic Agriculture Project. This position will assist in organizing public meetings and other events that advance dialogue and activities around state and local food and farming systems and health equity issues.
The Field Coordinator will develop expertise and use of integrated voter engagement (IVE) strategies in KRC’s existing health equity work: engagement and education, organizing and mobilizing communities, developing strong leaders, and educating on voter registration.
He or she will build relationships and connections with grassroots constituents around the state, providing them resources and assistance for their efforts. He/she will also work with KRC staff to strengthen grassroots engagement across all KRC programs and priorities.
The health equity issues targeted may include:
*local food system efforts at community and state level,
* access to food assistance,
* access to health care,
* state education funding,
* state budget and revenue analysis,
* community economic development,
* opportunities in specialty crop production and marketing for local economic development,
* and federal farm bill programs that encourage local food systems and environmentally sound farming practices.

Ideal candidate will have degree in sociology, anthropology, economic or community development, political science. Knowledge of agriculture / food systems important. Must be self starter but a team player. Excellent communication skills required. Knowledge of Spanish helpful.
Commitment to sustainable agriculture and food systems is necessary. Must be able to travel around the state and to work from a home office with frequent communications/meetings with other KRC staff.
