Beginning Beekeeping Resource Guide for Northeastern Kansas
Over 180 people turned out for KRC’s Introductory Beekeeping Workshops held in Douglas County, February 24 and 25, 2014. Participants received KRC’s Beginning Beekeeping Resource Guide for Northeastern Kansas, co-produced by Becky and Steve Tipton, and Joanna Voigt. Becky is vice-president and Steve is president of the Kansas Honey Producers Association, and Becky is program chair of Northeastern Kansas Beekeeping Association. Joanna is the program coordinator for the Douglas County Pollinator Project funded by the Elizabeth Schultz Environmental Fund.

The Pollinator Project is aimed at increasing the number of bees and beekeepers, the quantity and quality of pollinator habitat, and access to locally-produced honey and hive products in Douglas County, Kansas. A pollinator habitat workshop will take place this spring or summer, followed by a honey and hive products marketing workshop in the fall.
