Dicamba herbicide drift sign-on letters
Dear KRC friends,
We received the request below from Pesticide Action Network North America and we support their efforts to address the emerging threat from dicamba herbicide drift. We encourage you to read the letters and determine for yourself if you can sign on as a farmer or organization.
Best,
KRC Staff

Dear farmers and farm organizations,
As was just reported in the St. Louis Post Dispatch, the issue of dicamba herbicide drift is bad and getting worse for farmers across the country. One scientist estimates 3.1 million acres of soybeans – an area nearly the size of Connecticut – are at risk.
And we’ve already heard stories from across the country that have been impacted. These are real families and farms that have lost crops and their livelihoods affected due to the impacts from dicamba.
The reality is that federal officials could have prevented it and didn’t. We warned them about the dangers of weed resistance and the problems associated with Dow’s 2,4-D and Monsanto’s dicamba seeds and herbicides, and the significant potential for offsite drift onto neighboring farms. And while, a handful of states are stepping up, but that’s not enough.
It’s time for our federal agencies to do something. Please consider signing on to letters to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Agriculture urging the agencies to take the seeds and products off the market and invest in necessary support for growers. You can fill out this form and sign through the link or just email me back with your name, title and organization or business.
And please feel free to contact me if you would like to get more deeply involved in efforts, as we consider additional press, policy and legal opportunities.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or Quentin Robinson at the National Family Farm Coalition at 202-543-5675 or QuintonnRobinson@nffc.net.
Sincerely,
Linda Wells
