Women Food & Ag Network Annual Conference
November 4, 2016 - November 5, 2016
|Field tours are always a highlight of WFAN’s annual conference. This fall, you can choose one of three fun and informative options: women-owned Lincoln-area farms, Omaha urban ag projects, or the Arbor Day Farm and a nearby apple orchard close to the conference venue.
Our 2016 annual conference is set for Friday and Saturday, Nov. 4 and 5, at Lied Lodge and Conference Center, Nebraska City, NE (40 mi. south of Omaha).

Tour 1: The Lincoln-area tour will visit Harvest Home Farm (cut flowers), Common Good Farm(certified organic and biodynamic), Branched Oak Farm (organic cow dairy), and Lakehouse Farm (attached to Prairie Plate Restaurant, where this tour will eat lunch).
Tour 2: The Omaha urban agriculture tour will visit The Big Garden (community garden project), Big Muddy Urban Farm(collectively run), and No More Empty Pots (community food hub), finishing up with a stop at the office of Edible Omaha to talk with the two women who publish it and a representative of Omaha’s “Let’s Eat” Slow Money chapter.
Tour 3: Looking for permaculture-based tour closer to Lied Lodge? Take a walk through the Arbor Day Farm with Joel, its grounds and orchard manager, and then it’s a short trolley ride to historic Kimmel Orchard.
Our conference theme is Women and Permaculture: Making a Living in Harmony with the Land. Our keynote speaker is Karryn Olson-Ramanujan, a leading permaculture educator and supporter of women as leaders in the movement. She and other presenters will focus on how we can create a regenerative agricultural system.
Of course, fantastic field tours aren’t all we have to offer! Friday workshops will focus on eco-feminism and an in-depth look at permaculture principles and practices. Saturday will offer more on permaculture, and a variety of other workshops on production, marketing and business, leadership, and conservation. And as always, your Saturday registration includes a delicious locally sourced lunch!
