Maximizing Pasture Performance and Profit Workshop

April 22, 2017

Dear Friends … who share my passion for grazing education,
We have had many requests for a workshop on how to make grazing situations more productive and profitable.   It is especially significant and timely with livestock prices taking such a hit in the market arena.
So…after the Winter grazing conference Dale Strickler and I took the evaluation requests and suggestions to heart and he has developed a day long workshop on those exact requests and added many more topics that should answer the “call for help” from our livestock producers.
Kansas Graziers Association  is asking that you share this information with your membership or fan club mailing lists, post on your website and social media avenues.
Attached are the flyer and registration form.

Topics for the Workshop:

Pasture economics: Where does my money go, and how can I keep more of it?

Understanding the differences between warm-season grasses, cool-season grasses, legumes and forbs

What are the plants in my pasture?                                                              Forage quality and animal nutrition

Developing a forage chain to provide grazing around the year                   Determining a proper stocking rate

Grazing systems management                                                                      Maximizing native grass performance

Maximizing cool-season grass performance                                                Establishing the perfect pasture

Never buy nitrogen again: using perennial pasture legumes                        Strategies for reducing hay costs

Beat the heat: providing late summer forage                                                Dealing with mud and drought

Fencing and water development on the cheap                                              Extending the grazing season with cover crops

Thank you for your help spreading the word to the members of our agricultural community.  We are all in this together.  I hope to see some of you in Topeka, April 22 for a very educational and fun day.
