Farm Owner- Farm Seeker Mixer

November 8, 2019 @ 4:00 pm

As a special workshop within the KRC Annual Food and Farm conference on Friday, November 8, KRC is offering a 90-minute “Mixer” for Land/Farm Owners and Farm/Land Seekers from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required and is separate from the regular conference registration. The Mixer is also open and free to non-conference goers, but again pre-registration is required. Only those who pre-registered for the workshop will be allowed to attend.

Many retiring farmers do not have a family successor in mind. Finding affordable available farming land or farming opportunities is the beginning farmers’ biggest challenge.

At the KRC fall conference, we will tackle this dilemma by offering the Mixer workshop bringing farmer/landowners and the farm seekers.

The pre-registration process asks attendees to complete a survey designed for them as a farm/landowner or a farm seeker. Registrants will be asked to describe what they are looking for in terms of a farm, type of farm, or what kind of farm or land they have available. This information will only be used to inform the workshop format, and names will remain confidential.

This Mixer is a pilot effort or experiment, and a first step. KRC hopes to bring land/farm owners and seekers in KS together, aiming to build understanding on how events like these might help landowners and seekers identify each other and better understand the challenges and opportunities they encounter. The links for pre-registration can be found at the website URL below in the Details section.
