Hutchinson Forum AgendaCome join us for dinner and discussion about the state budget and revenue situation and how it affects local food and farm systems development.
An analysis about state budget and revenue concerns, and recent state legislation and its impact on local food systems and food access will be provided by Representative Joe S Seiwert, District 101, Senator Dan Kerschen, District 26. In addition, Senator Dan Kerschen will provide an update and outlook on the State Local Food & Farm Task Force.
The state overview will be followed by a presentation from Kim Baldwin, a teacher and farmer in Inman, KS, who will provide information on how to tell your story to your community and to policy makers. The South Hutchinson Food Policy Council will give an update on their efforts, and The League of Women Voters will share resources for increasing voter registration and educating your community members on the importance of voting and how their participation will make a difference.
Time will be provided for attendees to have round table dialogues focusing on civic engagement, resources, ideas, and ways to work together to reach the common vision of a healthy, local food system.
The Hutchinson forum is one of six in KRC’s Feeding Kansas Dinner & Dialogue series. Each forum will be a little different but each will offer state and local overviews of food and farm related activity and the opportunity to learn more about how amplify your voice during this important election year.
